A great way to start the day is a good breakfast, the smells of warm bread and soft, crispy croissants wafting in the air. And that first bite that makes you break into a smile and ready to take on the day ahead!
Baba au Rhum is a French bakery and café, located on a back road in Anjuna. For the uninitiated, this is the mecca of baked goodies in Goa. If you’ve had a croissant in Paris or the famous rolls of Germany, you’d know that they’re hard to find in any other part of the world.
Except, at Baba au Rhum!
We, at Coco Shamhala, are “bread believers”, meaning, we love our bread! And after years of searching for the perfect loaf, we chanced upon Baba au Rhum in 2012. All breads at Coco Shambhala are bought fresh from this bakery and on special request, we bring along their croissants too!
We highly recommend the café for brunch or evening snacks. Located just by the river, alongside massive paddy fields, Baba au Rhum envelops the silence of coastal Goa before the tourist onslaught. Here, you can almost feel the “susegad” of the people and the place, reverberating through the open air space of this café.
The staff are super friendly, prices reasonable and the food, absolutely lip-smacking! Conceived, developed and run by Leo Michaud and Dayini Feraud, Baba au Rhum opened in 2006 and has, over the years, created a niche for itself in Goa.
When at Coco Shambhala, don’t miss this little gem of north Goa!
