Beaches

Bhogwe beach- This is the beach we are located at. A small fishing beach, Bhogwe beach only sees people flock to it in the early evenings because it has good phone network coverage! The local Panchayat have set up a promenade that goes 300m and is adorned with benches that offer lovely views of the sea and sunsets! This beach extends for 2.8km on the left and makes for a wonderful morning or evening walk. Nivati beach- This beach is dramatic and peaceful at the same time. One can either hike to it from across the rocks of Bhogwe beach or take a short 15-minute drive to it or even a beautiful 15 minute boat ride. With uninterrupted views of the ocean and hardly a soul in sight, this is our favorite for a couple looking for some quiet time together. There are many other beaches around to explore by either boat or road.

Malvan & Sindhudurg Fort

Malvan is a city steeped in history and is home to the world’s largest sea fortress. The fort takes around 2 hours to fully walk around the walls. It’s a fledgling tourism operation and therefore do not expect International standards. However it is spectacular and a photographer's dream. You reach the fort by a short boat ride from the harbour in Malvan. There is a temple inside the Fort which houses the great warrior Shivaji’s sword. Thanks to Shivaji, Sindhudurg has never been invaded. He saw off the Portuguese, the Moghuls of the North and the British during his time. He left a proud legacy and unique culture which still thrives today. Malvan itself is a quaint fishing town which can be busy with tourists on the weekends. Best visited during the week, when you can take your time meandering through the narrow streets. Pick up interesting local delicacies and savor the famous spicy Malvani cuisine in one of the many family run restaurants and shops.
